Founded in 1787 as a small, private school and private through much of its history, Pitt became a state-related university in 1966. Today, the University of Pittsburgh system comprises the 132-acre Pittsburgh campus and regional campuses in Bradford, Greensburg, Johnstown, and Titusville. In the more than 220 years since founding, the University has evolved into an internationally recognized center of learning and research.

Pitt Business is made up of the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business, the College of Business Administration which offers undergraduate business degrees, and five education and research centers. Pitt Business believes in five strategic initiatives: experience-based learning, globalism, entrepreneurship, value chain and supply chain management and interdisciplinary collaboration. Academic Programs

Undergraduate Program

  • BSBA with Certificate in Supply Chain Management: Undergraduate students in the College of Business Administration enjoy a world-class academic program provided by the faculty of the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. Program features include an emphasis on global opportunities, experience-based learning initiatives, and diverse networking and internship opportunities. The Undergraduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management (CSCM) provides CBA students with the opportunity to understand important concepts in supply chain management and develop managerial and technical skills which are highly valued in today's corporate environment. The program also offers an international travel experience for students to gain hands-on exposure to global supply chain organizations. Enrollment is open to students in the BSBA degree program and the BS engineering programs in the Swanson School of Engineering. The CSCM is designed as an enrichment of the BSBA program, not as a stand-alone program. It builds on the BSBA core curriculum and may be combined with a major in accounting, finance, general management, global management, or marketing.

Graduate Program

  • MBA with Global Supply Chain Management Certificate: Katz offers one-year, two-year, part-time and executive MBA. You can add focused learning to your Katz MBA with one of the internal certificates. Global supply chain management certificate is aimed at students enrolled in the Katz MBA. Experience-based learning at Katz means you'll get hands-on experience with your new skills. This experience can mean all the difference in the confidence you project and the knowledge you bring to your position.

  • Experience-Based Learning: One of the defining characteristics of business education at Pitt Business is the importance we place on experience-based learning (EBL) and to accomplish this, the schools uses simulations, case competitions, and encourage students to become involved in one of the many Consulting Field Projects or to take on a consulting position with the Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence. The culmination of the course is the McKinsey Cup Competition where student teams compete for the coveted McKinsey Cup Trophy.
  • Entrepreneurship: The Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence and its centers have long provided Western Pennsylvania entrepreneurs with the knowledge, advice, and innovative services they need to define new markets, create new companies, and fortify the region's economy. The emphasis on more fully integrating entrepreneurship throughout the programs will help students be competitive in fluid business environments.

  • Student Employment & Placement Assistance (SEPA): The University of Pittsburgh is deeply committed to helping students land the right internship, part-time job, and ultimately career employment in all professions. SEPA works closely with businesses and employers representing a wide variety of professions to host career fairs, conduct on-campus interviews and information sessions, and tap into the Pitt Career Network sponsored by the Pitt Alumni Association.

Undergraduate

  • Official high school transcript.
  • Official SAT I or ACT test results.
  • Personal Essay and Letters of Recommendation: Although these items are optional, you may want to use them to strengthen your application.
  • Among the factors considered for admission are your high-school grades, class rank, and ACT/SAT scores and the competitiveness of your high-school curriculum.

MBA

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. university (as determined by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation), or the non-U.S. equivalent

  • University of Pittsburgh academic scholarships may range in value from $2000 per year to full tuition and room and board. University of Pittsburgh academic scholarships are generally available for eight full time undergraduate terms, provided the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA and meets all of the other terms and conditions of the specific award.
