Kongsberg Maritime delivers products and systems for dynamic positioning, navigation and automation to merchant vessels and offshore installations. Kongsberg also supply products and systems for seabed surveying, surveillance, training simulators, and for fishing vessels and fisheries research. To meet specific training requirements Kongsberg Maritime offers both standard and tailor made courses that teach the use and maintenance of Kongsberg products. The courses are conducted in North America, South America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Far East & Oceania.

The courses are designed to give participants a deep understanding and detailed product knowledge within each course curriculum. Courses may include both operational and technical training and vary from basic levels to advanced training depending on the required training level.

Acoustic Control System

  • ACS 400 Operator & Technical Course (1 day): Provide participants with basic understanding of the portable ACS 400 principles and how to operate it in a safe way.

Attitude Sensors System

  • Seatex MRU Training Course (1 day): Provide insight into which MRU sensors should be used within different applications, and what kind of information they can output.
  • Seatex Seapath Training Course (2 days): Provides insight into how GPS and INS technology is used within Seapath to compute and output true heading, position, roll, pitch, and heave data.

  • REMUS 100 Operations and Maintenance (5 days): The REMUS 100 Operations and Maintenance Training Course provides participants with basic knowledge and experience of operating the REMUS system including setup, programming, mission execution, maintenance and a detailed understanding of the system’s interface software.

DPS/DARPS Reference Systems

  • Seatex DARPS Operator & Technical Course (3 days): Provide participants with an in-depth functional description of the DARPS system and its display windows, fundamentals of GPS and GLONASS, computation of relative position data, and how the use of differential techniques improves absolute position accuracy, teach the participants general system maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Seatex DARPS Operator Course (2 days): Provide participants with an in-depth functional description of the DARPS system and its display windows, fundamentals of GPS and GLONASS, computation of relative position data, and how the use of differential techniques improves absolute position accuracy.
  • Seatex DPS Operator and Technical Course (3 days): Provide participants with an in-depth functional description of the DPS system and its display windows, fundamentals of GPS and GLONASS, and how the use of differential techniques improves absolute position accuracy, and general system maintenance.
  • Seatex DPS Operator Course (2 days): Provide participants with an in-depth functional description of the DPS system and its display windows, fundamentals of GPS and GLONASS, and how the use of differential techniques improves absolute position accuracy.

Dynamic Positioning (DP)

  • DP Advanced Operator Course (5 days): Provide participants with further insight, experience and confidence in performing offshore operations under DP control.
  • DP Basic Operator Course (5 days): Provide participants with basic knowledge of Dynamic Positioning (DP), principles and practical use of DP systems.
  • DP Introduction Course / DP Course for Onshore Personnel (2 days): Provide participants with basic knowledge of dynamic positioning and the advantages and limitations that DP control of vessels offers.
  • DP Instructor Training Course (10 days): Provide participants with sufficient knowledge of the content in the Nautical Institute DP Basic Operator and DP Advanced Operator courses, and the use of the Kongsberg Maritime DP Basic Operator and DP Advanced Operator simulators.
  • DP Operator Refresher Course (3 days): Update participant's knowledge on the latest Kongsberg DP equipment (software and functions), and on the latest developments with respect to industry guidelines and Class requirements.
  • DP Sea Time Reduction Course (5 days): After the DP Sea Time Reduction Course, the successful student is able to: Carry out offshore operations of light to medium complexity under DP control, with due regard to operational safety. Analyze operations and suggest points of improvement.

Information Management System

  • K-IMS Basic Course (2-3 days): Provide participants with a basic understanding of the Kongsberg Maritime Information Management System (K-IMS). After finishing the course, the participants should be comfortable using the applications and know how to do basic configuration on the system.

Multibeam Echo Sounder

  • SIS Operator Course (5 days): Provide participants with basic knowledge of operating the EM system (including start/stop/logging data/calibration/understanding the system). Participants will also learn how to test the system, display sonar image data and set-up data etc.

Navigation Systems

  • ECDIS IMO Model Course 1.27 (5 days): After the training the successful student has obtained proficiency in operation, interpretation and analysis of information obtained from ECDIS as specified in Table A-II/I in the STWC Code.

Offshore Vessel Simulator

  • Introduction to Anchor Handling (5 days): Upon completion of the course, the successful student will be able to perform entry level operations in Anchor Handling (AH) vessels in a safe manner.
  • Winch Operator Course (5 days): Upon completion of the course, the successful student will be able to master winch handling operations on Anchor Handling, Tug and Supply (AHTS) vessels within satisfying safety requirements and the best working practice.

Ship Simulator Systems

  • Advanced Polaris Operator Course (4 days): This course is designed to provide experienced Polaris simulator instructors with the skills and knowledge required to perform specialized operations such as port development work, escort tugging operations, and officer assessment and certification.
  • Neptune Maintenance Course (4 days): This course will make users of the Kongsberg Maritime Neptune simulators able to do maintenance on the Engine Room Simulator.
  • Neptune Operator Course (3 days): New users of the Neptune simulator will learn how to operate the instructor station and the different subsystems.
  • Polaris Hydrodynamic Modeling Course (4 days): The participants will learn how to use the Ship Model Software, a tool for creating, editing and tuning mathematical models of ships, and also how to go through parameters and test the change in behavior as a consequence of changing the parameters.
  • Polaris Maintenance Course (5 days): Technical personnel will learn how to operate the simulator, perform diagnostics and adjustments.
  • Polaris Modeling Courses: The objective with the Basic SeaGen Modeling module is that the students shall learn basic knowledge and practical skills that is needed to attend the courses “Building Exercise Areas for Polaris Ship’s Bridge Simulator” and “Building Visual Ship Models for Polaris Ship’s Bridge Simulator”. The course module is primarily designed for individuals who intend to attend the "Building Polaris Exercise areas" course or the "Building Visual Ship Models for Polaris" course. The goal with “Building Visual Ship Models” course module is that the students shall be skilled in building new or modifying existing visual ship models for use on the simulator. Other topics are how to create the mathematical fi les for target models and how to consolidate the mathematical and visual model.
  • Polaris Operator Course (4 days): New users of Polaris simulators will learn how to operate the instructor station and the different panels available on the simulated bridge.

Singlebeam Echo Sounder

  • EA400/600 Operator Course (1 day): Provide participants with basic knowledge of singlebeam echo sounder principles and how to operate the EA400 and/or EA600 systems.

Vessel Reference System

  • Artemis Operator and Maintenance Course (2 days): Provide the participants with basic understanding of how the Artemis systems function and how they are operated. Teach the participants how to perform periodic maintenance, identify faulty units, and use the system documentation.
  • Artemis Operator Course (1 day): Provide the participants with basic understanding of how to operate the Artemis Mk IV and Mk V systems.
  • Position Reference Systems Course Package (5 days): Provide the participants with basic knowledge about the following position reference systems; HPR/HiPAP, Artemis, DARPS.
