Lewis Tankers has won a substantial new distribution contract with Univar, the UK’s leading supplier of bulk and packaged solvents. In another development, PetroIneos Fuels has awarded a 2 year contract to Lewis Tankers to transport bio-fuel ethanol from its docks to refinery in the UK.
Univar Deal
The Yorkshire-based road tanker operator is to provide Univar with a UK distribution service for its bulk solvents from the chemical distributor’s sea fed terminal at Cadishead, Manchester. Prior to this award, distribution was handled by a number of road tanker operators on a contracted and spot hire basis.
Working with the Univar logistics specialists, an in depth analysis of distribution patterns and volumes product by product enabled Univar and Lewis Tankers to develop a 'total distribution solution' aimed at further enhancing the chemical distributor's delivery service to customers.
The solution involves managing Univar’s distribution needs with a contracted fleet of six multi-compartment solvents tanks, supported as required by a second tier of dedicated solvents tanks from Lewis Tankers' multi-user fleet. The contract will be managed by Steve Smith, Lewis Tankers' Regional Manager, North West.
PetroIneos Deal
PetroIneos is a bulk importer of bio ethanol in UK and denatures and processes it to be used as a bio-fuel. The transportation takes place between its dock and refinery in Grangemouth.
