Maesk Line has announced the hub change of Westmed (westbound) service from Malaga (Spain) to Port Tangier (Morocco) from early July 2012 in order to create better network connections with other ports within the Mediterranean, Africa, and the U.S.
The first vessel sailing on the Westmed (westbound) service will be the CMA CGM Jamaica, 1210, expected to depart Tangier (Morocco) on 6 July 2012. There will be no other changes to the service and the new rotation will be: Marsaxlokk (Malta) – Leghorn (Italy) – Genoa (Italy) – Fos sur Mer (France) – Barcelona (Spain) – Valencia (Spain) – Port Tangiers (Morocco) – Newark (New Jersey) – Norfolk (Virginia) – Savannah (Georgia) – Algeciras (Spain) - Marsaxlokk (Malta).
Maesk Line hopes to continue to offer the same record schedule reliability and the fast transit times on the Westmed service that are offered. The eastbound hub will continue to be Algeciras (Spain).
