Kongs­berg Mar­itime deliv­ers prod­ucts and sys­tems for dynamic posi­tion­ing, nav­i­ga­tion and automa­tion to mer­chant ves­sels and off­shore instal­la­tions. To meet spe­cific train­ing require­ments Kongs­berg Mar­itime offers both stan­dard and tai­lor made courses that teach the use and main­te­nance of Kongs­berg prod­ucts. The courses are con­ducted in North Amer­ica, South Amer­ica, Europe, Mid­dle East, Africa, and Far East & Oceania.

The courses are designed to give par­tic­i­pants a deep under­stand­ing and detailed prod­uct knowl­edge within each course cur­ricu­lum. Courses may include both oper­a­tional and tech­ni­cal train­ing and vary from basic lev­els to advanced train­ing depend­ing on the required train­ing level.

  • DP Oper­a­tor Refresher Course (3 days): Update participant’s knowl­edge on the lat­est Kongs­berg DP equip­ment (soft­ware and func­tions), and on the lat­est devel­op­ments with respect to indus­try guide­lines and Class requirements.
  • DP Sea Time Reduc­tion Course (5 days): After the DP Sea Time Reduc­tion Course, the suc­cess­ful stu­dent is able to: Carry out off­shore oper­a­tions of light to medium com­plex­ity under DP con­trol, with due regard to oper­a­tional safety. After fin­ish­ing the course, the par­tic­i­pants should be com­fort­able using the appli­ca­tions and know how to do basic con­fig­u­ra­tion on the system.

Multi­beam Echo Sounder

  • SIS Oper­a­tor Course (5 days): Pro­vide par­tic­i­pants with basic knowl­edge of oper­at­ing the EM sys­tem (includ­ing start/​stop/​logging data/​calibration/​understanding the sys­tem). Par­tic­i­pants will also learn how to test the sys­tem, dis­play sonar image data and set-​up data etc.

  • ECDIS IMO Model Course 1.27 (5 days): After the train­ing the suc­cess­ful stu­dent has obtained pro­fi­ciency in oper­a­tion, inter­pre­ta­tion and analy­sis of infor­ma­tion obtained from ECDIS as spec­i­fied in Table A-​II/​I in the STWC Code.

  • Advanced Polaris Oper­a­tor Course (4 days): This course is designed to pro­vide expe­ri­enced Polaris sim­u­la­tor instruc­tors with the skills and knowl­edge required to per­form spe­cial­ized oper­a­tions such as port devel­op­ment work, escort tug­ging oper­a­tions, and offi­cer assess­ment and certification.
  • Nep­tune Main­te­nance Course (4 days): This course will make users of the Kongs­berg Mar­itime Nep­tune sim­u­la­tors able to do main­te­nance on the Engine Room Simulator.
  • Nep­tune Oper­a­tor Course (3 days): New users of the Nep­tune sim­u­la­tor will learn how to oper­ate the instruc­tor sta­tion and the dif­fer­ent subsystems.
  • Polaris Hydro­dy­namic Mod­el­ing Course (4 days): The par­tic­i­pants will learn how to use the Ship Model Soft­ware, a tool for cre­at­ing, edit­ing and tun­ing math­e­mat­i­cal mod­els of ships, and also how to go through para­me­ters and test the change in behav­ior as a con­se­quence of chang­ing the parameters.
  • Polaris Main­te­nance Course (5 days): Tech­ni­cal per­son­nel will learn how to oper­ate the sim­u­la­tor, per­form diag­nos­tics and adjustments.
  • Polaris Mod­el­ing Courses: The objec­tive with the Basic SeaGen Mod­el­ing mod­ule is that the stu­dents shall learn basic knowl­edge and prac­ti­cal skills that is needed to attend the courses “Build­ing Exer­cise Areas for Polaris Ship’s Bridge Sim­u­la­tor” and “Build­ing Visual Ship Mod­els for Polaris Ship’s Bridge Sim­u­la­tor”. The course mod­ule is pri­mar­ily designed for indi­vid­u­als who intend to attend the “Build­ing Polaris Exer­cise areas” course or the “Build­ing Visual Ship Mod­els for Polaris” course. The goal with “Build­ing Visual Ship Mod­els” course mod­ule is that the stu­dents shall be skilled in build­ing new or mod­i­fy­ing exist­ing visual ship mod­els for use on the sim­u­la­tor. Other top­ics are how to cre­ate the math­e­mat­i­cal fi les for tar­get mod­els and how to con­sol­i­date the math­e­mat­i­cal and visual model.
  • Polaris Oper­a­tor Course (4 days): New users of Polaris sim­u­la­tors will learn how to oper­ate the instruc­tor sta­tion and the dif­fer­ent pan­els avail­able on the sim­u­lated bridge.

Sin­gle­beam Echo Sounder

  • EA400/​600 Oper­a­tor Course (1 day): Pro­vide par­tic­i­pants with basic knowl­edge of sin­gle­beam echo sounder prin­ci­ples and how to oper­ate the EA400 and/​or EA600 systems.

Ves­sel Ref­er­ence System

  • Artemis Oper­a­tor and Main­te­nance Course (2 days): Pro­vide the par­tic­i­pants with basic under­stand­ing of how the Artemis sys­tems func­tion and how they are oper­ated. Teach the par­tic­i­pants how to per­form peri­odic main­te­nance, iden­tify faulty units, and use the sys­tem documentation.
  • Artemis Oper­a­tor Course (1 day): Pro­vide the par­tic­i­pants with basic under­stand­ing of how to oper­ate the Artemis Mk IV and Mk V systems.
  • Posi­tion Ref­er­ence Sys­tems Course Pack­age (5 days): Pro­vide the par­tic­i­pants with basic knowl­edge about the fol­low­ing posi­tion ref­er­ence sys­tems; HPR/​HiPAP, Artemis, DARPS.
