London Metropolitan University (London Met) is a diverse and vibrant university right in the centre of London. London Met as you see it today was created in 2002 with the merger of London Guildhall University and the University of North London. The University has strong educational roots dating back to 1848.

Located in the City of London, the university’s London Metropolitan Business School (LMBS) is at the heart of one of the world’s major financial centers. The business school works closely with large companies to design its programs. The students are able to apply their learning using market-leading technology, including the Bloomberg Research and Trading Room. LMBS graduates have gone on to work in major institutions such as the Bank of England, NatWest and Merrill Lynch.

Masters Programs

  • MSc in International Trade and Transport (1 yr full-time & 2 yrs part-time): The course will provide you with essential knowledge of the diverse subjects which comprise international trade and transport and an understanding of the relationships between them. In particular the aims of the course are to: develop the generic business skills required by managers working in the area of international trade; develop critical analysis skills and apply them to the challenges arising in international trade and transport; gain an appreciation of the significance of law and finance to the functioning of international trade; and develop the ability to undertake problem-solving research in both academic and business environments.
  • MSc in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management (1 yr full-time & 2 yrs part-time): This program aims to provide you with the latest thinking on global purchasing and supply practices and trends. Topics you might investigate include the purchasing systems of the multi-billion dollar North American aerospace industry or global corporate responsibility within the sector, for example. Examining the strategic and tactical management of the supply chain, from supplier relationships to e-commerce solutions, you will gain the knowledge and skills to ensure that you have a direct impact on business success in this industry.
  • LLM in International Trade, Transport & Maritime Law (1 yr full-time & 2-5 yrs part-time): This highly specialized course allows you to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of a complex but commercially important area. The course is centered on the needs of the modern professional lawyer working or intending to work in trade, transport and maritime related industries. The course of legal study is set in a specific context to provide you with a detailed knowledge, depth of understanding and practical insight.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Law (Distance learning with Lloyds Maritime Academy – 16 months): This program aims to provide you with the latest thinking on global purchasing and supply practices and trends. Professional Programs

  • Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) (Graduate Diploma Foundation and Professional Stages): CIPS at London Metropolitan University (LMU) is run by a dedicated team of specialist MCIPS qualified trainers and support staff. LMU offers the CIPS ladder of Qualifications, levels 2 to 6 as well as a portfolio of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) workshops. The programs encourage critical reflection on current developments and focus on contemporary issues in supply chain management.
  • Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) (Graduate Diploma Foundation and Professional Stages): Flexible study programs offered as day release workshops, combined with flexible self-study with on-line support. The programs make use of MCILT specialist practitioners, senior academics and consultants, and our extensive learning resources include multimedia and case studies.

All undergraduates take an employability module in their second year. Students taking accredited courses may engage with employers through work based learning. Postgraduate and research students have dedicated career planning support and the graduates can access these services for up to three years. The campuses in the City and Islington put students next to global corporations and London's creative heart. These locations present unrivalled opportunities to get involved with employers directly. The university works with local businesses to advertise vacancies and give students the necessary support to apply for positions.

  • Housing: While at University, most students will either live in a hall of residence or in private rented accommodation. Halls of residence offer comfortable and affordable rooms for students. Privately rented accommodation is generally cheaper than halls of residence, but you may have to pay for utility bills, separately from the rent.

LONDON MET Admissions

  • MSc International Trade and Transport: All students should have a lower second honours degree or equivalent. Appropriate work experience and professional qualifications provide an alternative basis for entry. Overseas entrants must possess an appropriate qualification in written and spoken English.
  • MSc Purchasing & Supply Chain Management: Honours degree (or equivalent) in a business-related area. Applicants whose first degree is in science or humanities (law, languages, literature, etc) and who have business experience are welcome to apply. Applicants with membership of professional bodies, such as the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), will also be considered.
  • LLM International Trade, Transport and Maritime Law: Normally a UK or overseas degree in law of at least lower second-class or its equivalent. Alternatively, a non-law degree plus a professional legal qualification. Holders of the PG Diploma in Maritime Law (distance learning) awarded by this University will obtain 120 credits towards this specific LLM.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Law: Applicants should possess a first degree, a relevant professional qualification or have experience in the shipping industry.
